About BabySaleSeason
Premium baby gear is expensive, and "sales" are often noise. We built one calm place to answer two questions: when should I buy this? and is today's price actually good?
BabySaleSeason is made by a frontend engineer and parent of a young baby who got tired of refreshing five tabs to find out whether a stroller was really on sale.
How we collect prices
- We read the price from each retailer's public product page, using the structured data (schema.org) that the page publishes for search engines. We don't log in, use private APIs or get around bot protection, and we respect each site's robots.txt.
- Every price we collect is saved as a dated snapshot. History only grows. We never backfill, estimate or invent past prices.
- If we can't verify a price, we say so rather than guess. Today 59 of 62 products have a verified price. Tracking started Oct 16, 2026.
- We don't collect Amazon or Target prices yet. Amazon prices require its Product Advertising API, which we'll use once our Associates account is approved. Until then we link to a search.
- Prices are for the specific color or version we link. Others can differ.
How the verdict works
- Once we have 30+ days of history, or a verified past sale price: within 3% of the lowest price we know of = Good price. Within 12% = Fair. More than that = Wait.
- Before that, we compare to MSRP: 15%+ off = Good price. 5–15% off = Fair. Less than 5% off = Wait if Black Friday is within 60 days, otherwise Fair.
- No verified MSRP and no history yet = Too early to call. We never guess.
"Verified past sale price" means a sale price from a past event that we can point to a source for, such as a brand's own promo terms or a dated deal write-up. Each one is linked on the product page.
How we make money
Some retailer links are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy. We may also run clearly labeled sponsorships in the future. Neither ever changes a verdict; the rule above is the same for every product. See our affiliate disclosure.
